Braces Procedure

You’ll swing by Straight Smiles for a consultation with our Kelowna dentist Dr. Scramstad. We’ll take digital x-rays and photos and he’ll perform a thorough examination to determine your diagnosis. Once he creates a personalized treatment plan, he’ll chat with you about his plan and your options, as well as answer any questions you have. We’ll also let you know the estimated length of your treatment and give you a written price quote and payment plan. You’ll feel informed and confident about deciding to move forward!

The big day has arrived! You’ll head back to our comfy treatment area and take a seat. Dr. Scramstad will condition the surface of your teeth and use a special adhesive to bond your brackets to them. Then, he’ll thread the archwires through the brackets and close the doors to hold them in place. We’ll fill you in on everything you need to know about caring for your new hardware.

Depending on your treatment plan, you’ll come to Straight Smiles approximately every four to six weeks for a check up. We’ll discuss your progress with you and make any necessary adjustments.

Woohoo! We’ll congratulate you and then Dr. Scramstad will get to work removing your braces. This doesn’t hurt at all. When they’re off, we’ll polish your teeth and then let you admire your new smile in the mirror.

The final step in your smile journey is getting a retainer. It’s the only way to ensure your results last. We’ll create a custom one just for you. We use thin, clear retainers for most patients.
