Meet Dr. James Scramstad, General Dentist
Dr. James Scramstad is a General Practitioner dentist offering orthodontics only. He provides comprehensive braces and aligner solutions for patients of all ages with a focus on advanced technology and outstanding customer service. His treatment philosophy centers on creating beautiful smiles with harmonious facial relationships for the ideal balance of function and aesthetics.
Dr. Scramstad’s father, Dr. Don Scramstad, started Straight Smiles here in Kelowna back in 1981 and spent 30 years straightening smiles in the Okanagan Valley before retiring. James wanted to continue the family tradition and joined the practice after receiving his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Alberta in 1996.

Your first orthodontic consultation gives you the opportunity to meet our friendly team, tour the office, learn about your teeth-straightening options and have all of your questions answered. We strive to make the experience informative, fun and stress-free!

Insurance Information
We can help you determine if your dental insurance covers orthodontic treatment and, if it does, how much coverage is offered. This will allow us to give you an accurate Invisalign or braces cost. You can provide us with your insurance information by bringing your card to our office or by responding to your Welcome Email with:
- A picture of your insurance card
- The policy holder’s name
- The policy holder’s date of birth
X-Rays
If you have any orthodontic x-rays that were taken in the last year, please email them to us at info@straightsmileskelowna.com. No x-rays? No problem! We can also take digital x-rays at our office.
STEP 1
Come on in
We keep wait times to a minimum but if you arrive early, relax in our comfy office. A friendly team member will call you back, show you around and then take photos, including digital x-rays.
STEP 2
Meet with the doc
Dr. Scramstad will examine your mouth and develop a diagnosis. He’ll sit down with you and present you with his findings and your treatment options before answering all of your questions.
STEP 3
Discuss the details
We’ll go over the logistics of your treatment and discuss what to expect, as well as the cost. If you’re ready to move forward, we’ll work with you to decide on a payment plan that suits your budget.
7&Up Club
Kids Can Join Our 7&Up Club!
Did you know, age 7 is the recommended age for kids to have their first orthodontic evaluation? At this point, your child’s erupting teeth and jaw positions can be evaluated. If early orthodontic treatment isn’t needed, your little one will have the chance to join our 7&Up Club and Dr. Scramstad will keep an eye on their growth during regular maintenance visits. As a club member, your kiddo will also be able to take advantage of prizes, contests and a whole lot of fun!
