The Basics of Braces
Braces are fixed orthodontic appliances, which means they’re bonded to your teeth and stay put throughout your entire treatment. They apply gentle, steady pressure to shift your teeth into their correct positions for an aligned bite and confident smile. Dr. Scramstad offers modern braces options and has the experience to treat patients of all ages with the teeth-straightening solution. How Braces Work to Straighten Your Teeth
There are different types of braces but they all rely on brackets and wires to move the teeth. The brackets are bonded to your teeth and then an archwire runs through them, which acts as a track to guide your teeth into place. The pressure the braces apply causes the teeth to move in the direction we want them to go.
New and Improved
Braces have gotten a serious makeover. Today’s braces are smaller, more comfortable, more streamlined and work a lot faster. With innovative brackets and thin, lightweight wires, there’s never been a better time to have braces. Dr. Scramstad also happens to be a Kelowna Propel® provider and the device has been shown to reduce discomfort and may decrease treatment time by 30 to 50% when used in conjunction with your braces!
